Existence of Abstraction B76

Description

The twenty or so works displayed in this exhibition all relate to Korean aesthetics assimilating into any kind of space, starting with the Korean moon jar and then branching into other forms from nature, including rocks, stones, grass, leaves, etc. All of the works are sculptures based on the method of making ceramics.

After creating the base form of a Korean jar on the pottery wheel and melding in the natural elements, the intended landscape of each sculpture was completed with two polishing processes, once before and once after being fired in the kiln.

At first glance, this seems spontaneous and improvised, but it is the flow from volume to line and line to volume in abstract sculpture, allowing not only the softness and gentleness of Korean beauty to be felt but also a seemingly infinite number of images that differ in the eyes of each person to be created.

The abstract and formative beauty in the work offers the viewer time to ponder on the present while subtly revealing the values we want to regain in modern society.
